Promotores de
Salud

Empowering & Uniting

Promotores de Salud, or community health workers, are stationed throughout various locations in the Columbus area through federally-qualified centers.

The promotores are bilingual/bicultural community members that primarily serve as interpreters for health providers in order for patients to receive quality care. Using their bilingual capacity and cultural understanding, promotores also educate the community and connect them to additional resources patients may need.

Patient Served

The program has promotores aim to serve Spanish and Somali-speaking patients. Promotores de Salud continued to serve over 80,400 patients in-person and addressed barriers in language, immigration status, financial hardship, and racial disparities that many immigrant patients faced in accessing healthcare.
